Agartala, May 05, 2023: Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Friday said that the unity in diversity is the eternal heritage of India and in this country, there are people of different religions, communities and speaking languages, yet all are one and the same.
While inaugurating a program organized on the occasion of “Baisakhi Buddha Purnima” celebration at Benuban Vihar here on Friday afternoon, the Chief Minister said that despite the presence of people of different religions in our country, there is a bond of friendship among all.
“Our true identity is that we are human. Lord Buddha taught us to love people and maintain peace and harmony. Lord Buddha tried to unite people through his non-violence and bond of brotherhood. Following these principles of the Buddha we should proceed in life. On the path shown by Lord Buddha, the Prime Minister has adopted the mantra of Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas, Sabka Biswas, Sabka Prayas.”
The Chief Minister said that such festivals strengthen the bonds of love between people of different communities. A person’s true development takes place when the soul, mind and body are properly developed together. Then people can come forward for the welfare of others.
On the occasion, Dr Saha said that the government will play a positive role in the development of the school and centre of Benuban Vihar in Agartala. The Chief Minister urged everyone to come forward to build ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ and ‘Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura’.
MBB University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Satyadeo Poddar, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar Swami Shubakarananda Maharaj, Director of Atlanta’s Mahabodhi Overseas Center Niyani Rakhitha, Acting Incumbent of Benuban Vihar in Agartala Ven Khemachra spoke on the occasion among others.
Tushar Kanti Chakma, Convener of Buddha Purnima Celebration Committee delivered the welcome address. West Tripura District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan was also present on the occasion.
On the occasion of the Buddha Purnima, the winners of the sitting drawing competition were awarded. Besides, Chief Minister Benuban planted a sapling of Nageshwar tree in the premises of Buddha Temple.
