Tension at Sonamura Market as shop owner, son held for assault ahead of Eid

Bishalgarh: Mar 15. With only days left before the holy festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, shoppers thronged local markets to prepare for the celebrations. However, the festive atmosphere was disrupted in Sonamura’s Middle Bazaar area when a shocking incident unfolded.

According to reports, a couple shopping for Eid was allegedly attacked inside a shop named Vishal Readymade Centre. The shop’s owner, Lipon Roy alias Liton, and his son Vishal Roy were accused of assaulting the husband and wife. The incident immediately sparked chaos, drawing public attention and creating tension across the busy marketplace.

Police from Sonamura station rushed to the spot upon receiving information. Officers quickly brought the situation under control and arrested both Lipon Roy and his son Vishal Roy. They were taken to the police station for further questioning.

Local sources confirmed that the incident has caused widespread unrest in the area. Police officials stated that a full investigation has been launched, and legal action will follow in accordance with the law.
