Agartala, 25th November 2025:    Dharmanagar witnessed heightened tension on Monday after members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) were allegedly attacked while on their way to submit a deputation at Churaibari police station.

According to reports, the ABVP’s Dharmanagar unit delegation was marching in protest against an earlier incident in Shanichhara when the situation turned volatile near Kalachhara School. Witnesses claim that Youth Congress president Jahangir Hossain suddenly appeared at the spot and launched an attack on the delegation.

ABVP’s North District Coordinator, Aniket Deb, along with several members, sustained injuries in the assault. Deb, who was critically wounded, was initially admitted to Dharmanagar District Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to GB Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.

Following the incident, enraged ABVP workers gathered at Dharmanagar police station and lodged a written complaint against Jahangir Hossain. The attack also triggered unrest in the Kadamtala area, where tension spread among local residents.

Police officials confirmed that an investigation has been initiated and assured that adequate measures have been taken to maintain law and order in the region.
