TET candidates protest in front of Shiksha Bhawan, seek teacher recruitment before polls

Date:

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, February 09: A group of unemployed young men and women who cleared the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in 2022 staged a protest at Shiksha Bhawan here on Friday, demanding immediate appointment as teachers in the state. They claimed that the Teacher Recruitment Board of Tripura (TRBT) has been delaying the recruitment process for over a year, despite the acute shortage of teachers in the state.

The protesters said that they have been running from pillar to post to get their jobs, but the state government has turned a deaf ear to their plight. They alleged that the TRBT has not issued any notification or merit list for the 361 candidates who passed the TET exam in 2022. They also accused the TRBT of violating the Supreme Court’s order to complete the recruitment process within six months of the declaration of the TET results.

The protesters demanded that the state government should fill up the vacant posts of teachers before the Lok Sabha elections, which are expected to be held in April-May 2024. They said that they have received positive assurance from the Education Department, but they want a concrete action plan from the Education Minister. They warned that they will intensify their agitation if their demands are not met soon.
