TGEA holds mass sit-in-demonstration on several demands

Agartala, December 04, 2022: Tripura Government Employees Federation on Sunday organized mass sit-in-demonstration on several demands including providing of due dearness allowance (DA), vacant posts in different government departments, etc.

Speaking to media persons at Orient Chowmuhani premises here, the general secretary of TGEA Pijush kanti Bhattacharjee said that this movement is organized in all districts and sub-divisions while the main programme is being organized centrally here.“Through this programme, the demands of government employees and teachers along with the unemployed youths were raised”, he added.

Bhattacharjee said “The central government employees are getting Dearness Allowances of 38 percent whereas the state government employees including teachers are getting 8 percent of DAs and deprived of more 30 percent till date.”

“We have been enjoying the benefits of DAs for two times per annum and this facility was provided by the previous government for 8 consecutive years. After the formation of new government in 2018, we only received DAs of 8 percent comprising of 3 percent and 5 percent”, he added.

TGEA general secretary said “Secondly, thousands of vacant posts in various departments of the state government. At present, we are seeing that the government is announcing one after another recruitments as the assembly elections is two months away. When all these recruitment procedure will be completed, it is uncertain. Thousands of youths are unemployed. Hence, we demand that the vacant posts lying in various department should be filled by the unemployed youths immediately”.
