Agartala, 23rd October 2026 : The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is set to intensify its campaign on electoral and democratic issues, with three All India Congress Committee (AICC) observers scheduled to visit the state from October 27 to 29 for a series of organisational meetings across all nine districts.
TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha announced the programme on Friday, stating that AICC observers Gajendra Pratap Singh, Pradeep Jain and Deepak Sharma would participate in the district-level meetings and interact with party leaders and workers. The discussions will involve district and block-level leadership, along with Pradesh Congress functionaries assigned to the respective districts.
Saha said the campaign would focus on the Congress party’s demands for the resignation and arrest of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, withdrawal of FIRs and restoration of names allegedly removed from electoral rolls. The party has accused the Election Commission of compromising the fairness of the electoral process and alleged that its functioning has favoured the BJP.
The three-day organisational exercise will also serve as a platform to strengthen the party’s grassroots network and prepare workers for a proposed rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1. The Congress leadership is seeking to mobilise maximum participation for the rally as part of its broader campaign over electoral transparency and democratic rights.
Saha further informed that the party would continue its programmes at the block level across Tripura until November 25. The visiting observers are expected to assess preparations, coordinate with local leadership and review the implementation of the planned activities.
The TPCC president also appealed to other Opposition parties in the state to join hands with the Congress, saying that collective efforts were needed to raise concerns over democracy and electoral rights. The party intends to use the district-level meetings and press conferences to build broader Opposition support for its campaign.
The upcoming meetings are expected to play a key role in coordinating the Congress’s statewide organisational activities and preparing the party for its proposed national-level programme in the capital.
