Three Bangladeshis, Indian Middleman held in Tripura for Illegal Entry

Agartala, 30th March 2026:

 In a crackdown on illegal border crossings, Tripura Police have arrested three Bangladeshi nationals along with an Indian tout at two different locations.

West Agartala police, led by Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee, detained Sohag Mia, a resident of Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh, near the Joypur area of Agartala following a tip-off. “He was found to have entered the country illegally, and a case is being registered,” Chatterjee said.

Meanwhile, police from Jatrapur station in Sepahijala district stopped a vehicle at a Naka point and arrested two Bangladeshi men and an Indian tout. The police recovered three mobile phones and 1,810 Bangladeshi taka during the search.

The arrested individuals were identified as Mohammad Yasin and Mohammad Hizbul of Barisal, Bangladesh, and Md. Mohiuddin, a resident of Kali Krishnanagar under Jatrapur police station. Authorities said the Bangladeshis had crossed into India with the Indian middleman’s help, intending to work as masons in Sonamura town. All four are now in police custody, and investigations are ongoing.
