Agartala: August 18. In a targeted operation today, Tripura Police conducted a successful raid on a residence located in the Dakshin Amarpur area, acting on a credible tip-off regarding illicit drug activity. The operation, carried out with precision, revealed a significant drug packaging operation and led to the apprehension of two individuals.
During the raid, authorities discovered approximately 1500 empty vials that are commonly associated with drug distribution. Furthermore, their search yielded two packets containing 13.88 grams of substance identified as brown sugar.
According to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debanjali Roy, who spearheaded the operation, upon entering the premises, law enforcement encountered a scene suggesting active drug packaging. Two young men and a young woman were found in a room, allegedly in the process of packaging the illegal substance. Swift and decisive action led to the arrest of the two male suspects, identified as Jagat Jamatia and Sagar Jamatia. The raid resulted in the confiscation of 13.88 grams of brown sugar, an amount that carries significant market value. Initial estimates suggest that the seized drugs could be worth several lakhs of rupees, highlighting the scale of the illegal operation. In response to this operation, authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
