Three Missing Tripura Minors Rescued in Ahmedabad, One Detained

Date:

Agartala, 2nd July 2026:  In a coordinated inter-state operation, Tripura Police, with support from Gujarat Police, rescued three minor girls who had been taken from Tripura to Ahmedabad. A man identified as Mukhes Reang has been detained in connection with the case.

According to Dhalai district Additional Superintendent of Police Uttam Banik, the girls, aged between 15 and 16 years, left their homes on Monday along with the accused. They were taken to Agartala Airport and travelled to Ahmedabad via Kolkata.

Later that day, family members reported the girls missing at Ganganagar Police Station in Dhalai district. As all three were minors, police registered a kidnapping case and immediately launched an investigation.

ASP Banik said senior officers in Tripura Police promptly alerted Gujarat Police after tracking the group’s travel route. Photographs, boarding pass details and other relevant information were shared, enabling Gujarat Police to trace the accused and the girls after they had left Ahmedabad airport.

Following a search operation, Gujarat Police located and detained the accused along with the three minors late Tuesday night. Their identities were subsequently confirmed by Tripura Police.

A police team from Tripura has already departed for Gujarat and is expected to arrive on Friday. After completing legal formalities and securing transit remand from the appropriate court, the team will bring the accused and the rescued girls back to Tripura.

During initial questioning, the girls reportedly told police they wished to remain in Gujarat for work and were reluctant to return home. Police confirmed that the girls have since spoken with their families.

Investigators are now examining whether the incident is linked to human trafficking or if a larger network may be involved. Authorities said a detailed investigation will continue after the victims are brought back to Tripura, with all legal procedures being followed.
