Three women held with over 15 Kg of marijuana at Teliamura, investigation underway

Agartala, 3rd July 2025:  Tripura police today arrested three women allegedly involved in trafficking marijuana. The suspects are hailing from outside the state were detained during a routine vehicle inspection in front of the local police station.

Sub-Inspector Sumitra Debbarma, who led the operation, stated that the trio was traveling in a Max vehicle en route from Agartala to Ambassa when their behavior raised suspicions.

Upon further inspection at the police station and following due legal protocols, authorities recovered over 15 kilograms of dried marijuana concealed within the women’s clothing. The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth over Rs 1 lakh.

The case has been registered under the NDPS Act and police have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the wider network behind the smuggling attempt.
