Agartala, 7th September 2026 : Three youths have been detained by police in connection with an alleged molestation case involving a minor girl in Khowai district.
According to police sources, the incident allegedly took place while the girl was travelling from the Ramchandraghat area towards Khowai in a ‘Tomtom’, a battery-operated rickshaw. During the journey, three youths allegedly subjected her to molestation.
The accused have been identified as Biplab Das, Sumon Shukla Baidya and Pranoy Das.
Following the alleged incident, the girl lodged a complaint at the Khowai Women’s Police Station. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case, numbered 23/2026, under Sections 74 and 75(1)(3)(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police subsequently detained all three accused and produced them before the court for further legal proceedings.
Mina Debbarma, Officer-in-Charge of the Khowai Women’s Police Station, briefed the media regarding the case and the action taken by police.
The investigation into the allegations is underway.
