Agartala, 5th February 2026 : Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy visited Kailashahar today to inspect the construction of the upcoming 200-bed Youth Hostel, a facility widely seen as the answer to the town’s persistent accommodation shortage during major cultural and sporting events.
During his site tour, the Minister reviewed the progress and voiced confidence that the project would be completed in the near future. He noted that the hostel would ease the challenges faced by organizers, performers, athletes, and visitors who often struggle to secure lodging during large gatherings.
Highlighting the broader impact, Roy said the hostel would pave the way for Kailashahar to host festivals, competitions, workshops, and training camps with greater efficiency. “This initiative will stand as a landmark in Kailashahar’s growth, ensuring that its vibrant cultural heritage is supported by modern infrastructure,” he stated.
The announcement has been warmly received by local cultural groups and residents, who believe the hostel will encourage larger audiences and reinforce Kailashahar’s standing as a center for literature, music, theatre, and the arts.
Officials confirmed that construction is moving forward steadily, adding that the hostel’s completion will resolve a long-standing logistical hurdle and strengthen the town’s capacity to host state- and district-level programmes.
