Tipra Motha Alleges Misuse of Relief Funds

Date:

Agartala, 1st May 2026 :  Tipra Motha leader and MDC EM Rabindra Debbarma has accused the government of distributing funds under the pretext of political violence while ignoring storm-affected victims.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, he claimed that attempts are being made to falsely label incidents as political attacks to access the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He alleged that despite claims of post-election violence, no such incidents occurred in Simna.

The government reportedly sanctioned ₹68.5 lakh for alleged victims, which Debbarma termed unjustified. He further said that people are unhappy with such distribution, especially when many storm-affected families have received no assistance.

He also highlighted issues like damaged transformers, lack of employment under MGNREGA, and extreme poverty in the region. He urged the government to immediately support those affected by recent storms.
