Tipra Motha Delegation Urges DGP to Act on Rising Violence in Takarjala

Date:

Agartala, 15th May 2026:   A delegation of the Tipra Motha Party on Friday met Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag to express concern over the worsening law and order situation in the Takarjala Assembly Constituency and sought immediate police intervention.

The delegation, led by MLA Biswajit Kalai and MDC Suraj Debbarma, submitted a memorandum alleging a rise in violent incidents in the region during and after the recently concluded TTAADC General Election 2026.

According to the memorandum, several incidents of violence, including bomb attacks and armed assaults, have created panic among residents and disrupted normal life in the constituency.

The leaders referred to an incident on April 10, 2026, near the residence of BJP candidate and Mandal President Nirmal Debbarma, where Tipra Motha workers were allegedly attacked with firearms and sharp weapons. The clash reportedly left several people injured, including the Sepahijala district Superintendent of Police.

The party alleged that despite the seriousness of the incident, no significant arrests have been made so far. They claimed this has raised doubts about the neutrality of law enforcement agencies.

The memorandum further stated that four bomb explosions took place on the night of May 9 at different locations in Jampuijala and Takarjala, allegedly targeting the homes of Tipra Motha supporters. The party also alleged that a Youth Tipra Federation member was fired upon during another attack.

Expressing concern over repeated incidents, the delegation accused certain BJP workers of being involved in the violence and questioned why only Tipra Motha workers were allegedly being targeted.

The party also alleged that some accused persons were being given shelter in Agartala and claimed that political pressure was hampering impartial police action.

To restore peace in the region, Tipra Motha demanded increased police patrolling in vulnerable areas, deployment of additional security at sensitive points, and the formation of a dedicated task force to identify and arrest those responsible for the violence. The delegation assured the police administration of full cooperation in efforts to maintain peace and stability in the area.
