Agartala, 27th January 2026: Authorities have seized a large stock of organic fertilizer from the house of Mohan Lal Chakma, a newly appointed leader of the Tipra Motha Party in the Durgachhara area under the Chailengta police station, according to local sources.
The Agriculture Department confirmed that Mohan Lal Chakma had stored a significant quantity of organic fertilizer at his residence without proper documentation. Locals claim that while genuine farmers are struggling to obtain fertilizer, party leaders are misappropriating government resources for personal gain.
It is reported that Mohan Lal Chakma’s wife, Yamuna Chakma, was previously employed at the Chamnur area’s Agriculture Department when these irregularities occurred. She has since been transferred to another location.
On Tuesday, local residents, along with police from Chailengta and Agriculture Department officials led by Jyoti Roy Chakma, raided Mohan Lal Chakma’s house and recovered a total of 58 bags of organic fertilizer. The police have launched an investigation into the matter, and the department has announced strict measures will be taken.
Meanwhile, statements from the department’s storekeeper suggest conflicting accounts regarding the incident. Mohan Lal Chakma has also shared his response to the allegations, though details remain unclear.
