Agartala, 21st September 2026 : Tipra Motha has raised concerns over the prolonged drinking water crisis in Nutan Bazar, with the party’s local committee submitting a deputation at the Water Treatment Plant at Garjantila in Jatanbari on Monday.
The delegation, comprising Tipra Motha leaders Prahlad Hazari, Rasendra Das, Bhutan Sutradhar, Sumon Marak and others, demanded restoration of a regular and uninterrupted drinking water supply to the Nutan Bazar area.
According to the party leaders, residents have been facing the crisis for nearly one and a half months. They alleged that several localities do not receive water on a daily basis and, in some cases, residents have to remain without supply for nearly three days after receiving water for a single day.
The Motha leaders criticised the ruling BJP over the situation and said that if Tipra Motha candidates are elected in the forthcoming Village Committee elections, they would take steps to address the long-standing water shortage.
Meanwhile, sources in the Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) Department said that a motor at the water treatment plant has developed a technical fault. As no spare motor is currently available, water supply to a large area has been affected. Department officials, however, expressed hope that the faulty motor would be repaired and normal supply restored within the next day or two.
