Agartala, 10th November 2024:   In a significant move, the Tipra Motha Party, which is in alliance with the ruling BJP in Tripura, has announced on Sunday plans to submit a deputation to Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on November 14. The party seeks urgent action on three key demands: swift implementation of the Tiprasa Accord, timely conduct of Village Council elections, and the adoption of the 125th Constitutional Amendment in Parliament.

Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma stated that a party meeting was recently held, involving MLAs, District Council members, and other leaders, where it was decided to expedite these demands.

“On November 14, we will submit memoranda to Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu in a block-wise manner, emphasizing the need for the immediate implementation of the Tiprasa Accord, holding of Village Council elections, and adoption of the 125th Constitutional Amendment,” said Debbarma. He added that the party will organize a statewide peace rally as part of their effort to submit the memorandum.

Addressing the significance of the 125th Amendment, Debbarma noted that although a Chief Minister can offer support, the power to implement the amendment lies with Parliament. “There is consensus on this issue among major parties like the BJP and Congress in Parliament, so there’s no reason to delay further. This is crucial for our community,” he explained. Additionally, he cited a High Court directive urging timely Village Council elections.

Debbarma also shared that the second phase of discussions on the Tiprasa Accord is scheduled for late November, where the party will continue to advocate for its core demands. “Our demands are not against any particular group but are focused on advancing the interests of Indigenous people. In these discussions, I will negotiate with the Centre with one purpose: to uplift my people. I am here not to serve the BJP, Congress, or CPIM, but to represent my community,” he emphasized.
