Agartala, 22nd December 2025:   The Tripura Journalists’ Union staged a silent protest at Agartala Press Club today condemning recent attacks on minority communities, journalists, and media offices in Bangladesh. Members wore black badges to denounce the violence that has taken place under the interim government.

The protest was attended by Syandan Patrika and Syandan TV Director Abhishek Dey, Union President Syed Sajjad Ali, Acting President Pranab Sarkar, Chitra Roy, and others.

Speaking to reporters, Sarkar noted that incidents of vandalism and arson targeting newspaper offices have been recurring in Bangladesh and elsewhere in recent years.

The Union demanded immediate release of detained journalists, reconstruction of two media offices destroyed by fire, and assurance of safety for press workers to operate freely.

Meanwhile, the Khowai Press Club and Tripura Working Journalists’ Association submitted a memorandum to the President through District Magistrate Rajat Panth, urging intervention.
