Agartala, 22nd December 2025:   A joint protest was organized on Monday by the Pensioners’ Welfare Society and the Tripura Jute Mill Workers’ Union under the banner of the Joint Struggle Committee. The demonstration took place in front of the Provident Fund Bhavan, demanding speedy resolution of issues faced by beneficiaries of the EPF-1995 pension scheme.

The protesters called for immediate settlement of both online and offline pension applications, as well as implementation of the minimum pension provision. Tripura Jute Mill Workers’ Union leader Dhanmoni Singh attended the program and addressed the gathering.

Singh highlighted that the Supreme Court has directed the minimum pension to be fixed at Rs 7,500. He noted that while applicants who filed online have received enhanced pensions, arrears remain unpaid. Meanwhile, those who applied offline have not received their pensions at all.

Repeated appeals have been made to ensure timely disbursement of pensions, but no effective action has been taken, Singh said. The protest was organized to press these demands and draw attention to the plight of pensioners.
