Agartala, 8th October 2025 : A significant political development unfolded in Tripura on Wednesday as a high-profile delegation of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders arrived in the state following claims that their party office on Chittaranjan Road, Agartala, was attacked by BJP supporters on Tuesday evening.
The delegation, which landed at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport (MBB) in Agartala, included MPs Sayani Ghosh, Pratima Mondal, Sushmita Dev, Minister Birbaha Hansda, West Bengal TMC General Secretary and spokesperson Kunal Ghosh, and spokesperson Sudip Raha.
Upon arrival, TMC leaders staged a sit-in at the airport, alleging that the state administration had obstructed their movement. Kunal Ghosh claimed that vehicles arranged to take the leaders to the party office were blocked outside the airport, and even prepaid transport services refused to provide assistance.
“Drivers assigned to take us to the party office were threatened and denied entry into the airport premises. This raises serious concerns,” Ghosh said.
Later, the delegation managed to reach the TMC state office in Agartala, which was secured by a heavy police presence. Leaders accused the ruling party of creating these obstructions due to fears over Mamata Banerjee’s increasing influence in Tripura.
In the evening, the TMC leaders met Tripura Director General of Police Anurag, informing him about the alleged attack and discussing plans to collect evidence for a formal complaint. “The DGP has assured us that appropriate action will be taken. We also raised previous attacks on TMC leaders, including Abhishek Banerjee, during earlier visits, and urged for a comprehensive investigation,” Kunal Ghosh said.
