TMP accused of attacking BJP’s Mann Ki Baat program, seven injured

Agartala, 27th July 2025:   At least seven BJP Karyakartas were injured in a violent attack allegedly carried out by Tipra Motha Party-backed miscreants during a Mann Ki Baat programme in Asaram Bari under Khowai District on Sunday.

According to BJP Mandal President Jayanta Debbarma, the incident occurred at Booth No. 30, where over 100 alleged Tipra Motha supporters stormed the event, armed with sharp weapons, lathis, and bricks.

“Over 50 goons attacked the venue and disrupted the program. They vandalised my car and even assaulted the owner of the house where the event was being held. Nearly 15 bikes and several other vehicles were also damaged,” Debbarma said.

He added that six BJP Karyakartas sustained serious injuries after being hit by bottles and bricks thrown by the attackers. “Some of them suffered injuries to the head, mouth, and chest. They used daos, rods, and other weapons to target us,” he alleged.

BJP General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, confirmed the incident and said that among the injured, two are in critical condition. BJP MLA from Kalyanpur Assembly Constituency, Pinaki Das Chowdhury, condemned the attack and held the Tipra Motha Party responsible.

“This is a blatant attack on democracy. The law will take its own course,” he said.

However, Tipra Motha Party MLA from Asaram Bari Assembly Constituency who is also forest minister Animesh Debbarma said that he had a conversation with the Chief Minister and that time only he got to aware about the incident.“However when I have inquired about the matter I got to know during Mann Ki Baat some miscreants have launched attacks on them. Even our party workers is also not aware. But some miscreants were engaged. Tipra Motha Party is not engaged in this activities. We don’t support violent”, he said adding that the party doesn’t support anykind of attacks on the alliance partner.
