Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury visits Puspabanta Palace

Agartala, March 29, 2023: Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury made an on-site visit to Pushpabanta Palace adjacent to Circuit House on Wednesday to develop Pushpabanta Palace as an international level museum.

When Minister Chowdhury arrived at the palace premises in the afternoon, he was welcomed by the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited with garlands.

The state government has taken the initiative to develop the Pushpant Palace as an international standard museum. The Tourism Minister toured the Pushpabanta Palace and the Durbar Hall.

He spoke to Tapan Kumar Das, Managing Director, Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited, Abhijit Nandy, Project Manager, New Delhi-based KNOSP and COLLP Company. He also checked the working, drawings and designs. He advises to maintain quality in rectofitting work.

Speaking to reporters after the visit, Tourism minister Chowdhury said that the state government has taken the initiative to develop this flowery palace as an international standard museum to highlight the lost culture and the culture of the Manikya era before the future generations.

He said, Biswa Kabi Rabindranath Tagore entered this Palace. Retrofitting work has started here since last October. It is hoped that this museum can be dedicated to the people of the state within the next 2 years while maintaining the quality. It will preserve the lost culture and events from the royal period to the present day. There will be separate gallery of Rabindranath Tagore along with other galleries, library, film and video gallery, administrative building etc.

He said that if an international level museum is built here, the arrival of domestic and foreign tourists will increase as well as the amount of revenue collection. Tourism industry of Tripura can be made more attractive in the world.
