Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury warns against unlawful subscription collection during Durga Puja celebrations

Agartala, 23rd September 2024:   Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has firmly stated that the government will not tolerate the illegal collection of subscriptions by stopping vehicles on the road during the upcoming Durga Puja festivities.

Speaking at a meeting organized by the Jirania Sub-Divisional Administration to discuss preparations for Sharadotsav, Chowdhury urged clubs and puja committees to ensure their events adhere strictly to government guidelines.

“The collection of subscriptions by stopping vehicles or through force will not be tolerated,” said Chowdhury during the meeting held at the Jiraniya Panchayat Samiti auditorium. He further encouraged organizers to focus on controlling noise pollution and raising awareness about addiction.

The meeting, held in the presence of key local officials, was aimed at ensuring smooth and lawful celebrations during the festival. Jiraniya Sub-Divisional Additional Magistrate Animesh Dhar and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kamal Krishna Kalai provided further clarifications on the government’s guidelines for the puja season.

The meeting was attended by Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath, Jirania Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Ratan Kumar Das, Ranirbazar Municipal Council Chairperson Aparna Shukla Das, Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad Saha-Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil and Zilla Parishad members Manju Das and Shibayan Das. Also present were Jirania Block BDO Tushar Alam, Old Agartala Block BDO Shantanu Datta, social worker Gouranga Bhowmik and representatives from various clubs and puja committees across the subdivision.
