Agartala, 1st January 2026 :   Tripura’s historic water palace, Neermahal, came alive with festive cheer on the very first day of the new year as thousands of tourists thronged the site to celebrate with family and friends. Visitors arrived not only from different corners of the state but also from outside Tripura, turning the palace grounds into a vibrant hub of activity.

From early morning, long queues of tourists were seen at Rudrasagar Lake, eager to enjoy boat rides to the palace. The crisp winter weather and the serene beauty of the lake added to the charm, drawing crowds who spent hours exploring the surroundings and capturing photographs of the picturesque monument.

To ensure safety and convenience, the administration put in place special arrangements. Additional security personnel were deployed, and strict monitoring was carried out on boat operations. Officials from the tourism department remained on duty throughout the day to assist visitors.

Local businesses also benefited from the surge in footfall. Food stalls, handicraft vendors, and boat operators reported brisk sales, describing the day’s earnings as highly satisfactory.

With the influx of tourists breathing new life into the Neermahal complex, stakeholders believe the upbeat start to the year signals a positive outlook for Tripura’s tourism industry.
