Agartala, 4th May 2024: Traders in Kailashahar’s Paiturbazar area gathered to block roads and protest against the recurring incidents of theft. The protest was ignited by a recent burglary at Arun Kumar Dev’s sweets shop, marking the latest in a string of thefts plaguing the locality.
Last night, a brazen group of thieves targeted Arun Kumar Deb’s sweets shop in Paiturbazar, adding to the mounting woes of local traders. In response, the entire trader community banded together, blocking roads and setting tires ablaze to voice their discontent.
The traders’ grievances stem from the perceived inadequacy of law enforcement measures, despite their previous appeals for increased security. Despite assurances from Kailashahar Police Station and Kailashahar Municipal Council, thefts continue unabated and left the traders feeling vulnerable and unprotected.
Their demand during the protest was clear: they seek stringent punishment for the perpetrators, urging authorities to swiftly bring the culprits to justice.
