Agartala, 4th May 2024:   Traders in Kailashahar’s Paiturbazar area gathered to block roads and protest against the recurring incidents of theft. The protest was ignited by a recent burglary at Arun Kumar Dev’s sweets shop, marking the latest in a string of thefts plaguing the locality.

Last night, a brazen group of thieves targeted Arun Kumar Deb’s sweets shop in Paiturbazar, adding to the mounting woes of local traders. In response, the entire trader community banded together, blocking roads and setting tires ablaze to voice their discontent.

The traders’ grievances stem from the perceived inadequacy of law enforcement measures, despite their previous appeals for increased security. Despite assurances from Kailashahar Police Station and Kailashahar Municipal Council, thefts continue unabated and left the traders feeling vulnerable and unprotected.

Their demand during the protest was clear: they seek stringent punishment for the perpetrators, urging authorities to swiftly bring the culprits to justice. The blockade served as a poignant reminder of the urgent need for effective law enforcement measures to curb the rampant thefts afflicting the area.

Upon receiving reports of the protest, a substantial contingent of law enforcement personnel from Kailashahar Police Station and TSSA promptly mobilized to the scene, indicating a heightened awareness of the severity of the situation.

The burglary at Arun Kumar Deb’s sweets shop is just the latest in a series of thefts plaguing Paiturbazar. Reports indicate that this incident marks the third theft targeting Deb’s establishment alone, reflecting a worrying trend of escalating criminal activity in the area. Other shops in the vicinity have also fallen victim to similar crimes, with gangs of thieves operating with alarming frequency, posing a significant challenge to local businesses and residents alike.
