By TC News Desk

Agartala, 4th May 2024:   In a tumultuous turn of events at the Boishakhi fair in Rahimpur Bazar, a violent clash between two factions has left one individual critically injured. The altercation arose over the distribution of shop spaces at the fair, escalating into a physical confrontation resulting in serious harm.

The incident took place on Saturday as tensions flared between Shahjahan Mia, a member of the fair committee, and Khurshid Alam, a representative of the Central Mela Committee. Mia, reportedly obstructed a small trader from setting up shop despite prior allocation of space. This discrepancy led to a heated exchange, culminating in Mia wielding a knife against Alam, inflicting severe wounds.

Prompt intervention by local residents saw Alam swiftly transported to Boxanagar Social Health Center for immediate medical attention. However, due to the critical nature of his injuries, medical personnel transferred him to a private hospital in Agartala. Simultaneously, law enforcement authorities from Kalamchaura police station apprehended Shahjahan Mia, swiftly moving to contain the escalating unrest.

As tensions grip the area, heavy deployment of security forces has been initiated to restore order and prevent further escalation of violence. The incident underscores the fragility of community dynamics during festive gatherings, prompting heightened vigilance from authorities to ensure public safety. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing situation.
