Traditional Kharchi Puja and Mela begins from June 26

Agartala, June 24, 2023: The state’s traditional Kharchi Puja and Mela will begin from June 26 next. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will officially inaugurate the Kharchi Mela in presence of Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Janjati Kalyan minister Bikash Debbarma, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder and others.

While briefing the media personnel at the conference hall of the Old Agartala block on Saturday, local MLA Ratan Chakraborty also said that there will be three events on the stage of the fair. Former Chief Minister and MP Biplab Kumar Deb will attend the first event on June 30, and union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik and prominent philanthropist Rajib Bhattacharya and others will be present at the second function on July 02 evening.

As many as 1,000 TSR jawans as well as volunteers will be deployed for security at the fair. CCTV cameras have been installed at various places.
