Agartala, 7th November 2024:   In response to increasing traffic congestion complaints, Traffic SP Manik Lal Das led a surprise raid in the bustling GB Bazar area of Agartala today.

This move comes amid growing concerns over the city’s mounting traffic issues, exacerbated by an unprecedented rise in passenger autos and battery operated autos that clog busy streets from morning till night.

The situation reached a tipping point as residents expressed frustration over daily gridlocks that affect their commutes and, critically, hinder emergency vehicles. With GB Bazar serving as a key artery leading to the hospital, traffic jams have become a major hindrance for ambulances and emergency services, further fueling public discontent.

Amidst this unrest, Traffic SP Manik Lal Das stepped up to lead operations on the ground, accompanied by his team.

“While steps are taken every day by the traffic department, there remains a significant lack of public awareness,” he stated during the raid.

“We have a traffic management committee in place, and a meeting will be convened shortly to discuss the issues plaguing the GB Bazar area and devise concrete solutions.”

The public’s dissatisfaction has been compounded by a perceived lack of accountability within the traffic department, with some officials accused of neglecting their duties. By taking direct action, Traffic SP Manik Lal Das aims to not only address immediate traffic concerns but also reassure Agartala’s citizens that the department is committed to restoring order to the city’s roads.
