Tragic accidents claim one life and injure two in Sabroom

Agartala, August 07, 2023: In two separate vehicular accidents that took place in Sabroom, one individual lost their life, while two others sustained injuries. The incidents have cast a pall of sadness over the community.

In the first incident, involving a scooty, Tripura Gramin Bank’s Sabroom branch assistant manager, Rajib Dey (29), along with another assistant manager, Anupam Datta, embarked on a night-time journey. However, they failed to return to their destination, prompting concern among their colleagues. Despite a frantic search by their colleagues during the night, there was no sign of them.

Early Thursday morning, passersby made a grim discovery as they found two individuals lying in front of the Sabroom Yuva Shakti Club on National Highway 8. Concerned citizens immediately contacted the local fire brigade, which swiftly arrived at the scene, rescuing the injured duo and transporting them to the hospital.

Regrettably, Rajib Dey was pronounced dead by doctors at the Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital. Anupam Dutta, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, was referred to the Agartala GB Hospital due to the critical nature of his condition. The Sabroom police station has initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

In another unfortunate incident, a head-on collision between a scooty and an electric auto in the Shastri Colony area left one person injured.

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, the collision occurred, resulting in severe injuries to one individual. Local residents witnessed the accident and promptly alerted the Sabroom fire brigade. While the fire brigade team rushed to the scene, the injured person was transported to the Sabroom sub-divisional hospital in a private vehicle.

The injured individual has been identified as Bishu Mali, a student at Sabroom English Medium School in the Laguwa area of Harinarayanpur.

These two separate tragic accidents have left the community in Sabrum deeply saddened and concerned about road safety in the region. Authorities continue to investigate both incidents to ascertain the circumstances surrounding them.
