Agartala, 20th August 2024: In a devastating incident, three members of a family lost their lives due to a landslide in Devipur ADC village under the Santirbazar sub-division. The landslide triggered by heavy rains over the past few days struck the home of Trisankar Chakma, resulting in the tragic deaths.
The deceased have been identified as husband Trisankar Chakma, his wife Ranjani Chakma (41) and their daughter Mita Chakma (12). The family of trio was caught in the landslide, with one member sustaining injuries.
Rescue efforts have been hampered by damaged roads, preventing the administration from reaching the affected area. Local residents have stepped in to assist with the rescue operations. The community mourns the loss of the Chakma family members as they await further aid and support.
