Train mowed 60-year old woman at Dharmanagar

Agartala, November 13: A 60-year-old woman identified as Kalam Mia was fatally struck by the Kanchenjunga Express train near the 42.2 bridge under Dharmanagar railway station on Sunday night. She was returning home from her shop after celebrating Kali Puja, a Hindu festival of lights.

The incident took place around 10 pm, when the train was heading towards Agartala from Guwahati. The woman, who lived at Kameshwar, was crossing the railway tracks when she was hit by the speeding train. She died on the spot.

The locals informed the police and the fire department, who reached the scene and recovered the body. The body was taken to the North District Hospital for post-mortem examination. The police handed over the body to the family on Monday morning.

The death of the woman has shocked and saddened the residents of the area, who expressed their condolences to the bereaved family. The police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the matter.
