Agartala, November 16: A travel agency owner in Agartala was robbed of Rs 1500 by a thief who pretended to be a customer seeking a ticket. The incident took place on Wednesday evening at Ramnagar Road No. 1 area.

Sayantan Deb, the owner of the travel agency, said that he had gone to Durga Chowmuhani for some time on Wednesday evening. At that time, a person came to their shop and asked his wife for a ticket. He told her to wait for some time and then entered the shop through the grill door. He quickly took the money from the cashbox and left before Deb returned.

He noticed the money missing when he opened the cashbox while working on his laptop. He checked the CCTV footage and saw the unknown person stealing the money. He informed the Ramnagar outpost about the theft.

However, Deb was unhappy with the police response. He said that the police told him that they did not have enough cars and it would take time to reach the spot. He alleged that the police did not arrive on time and failed to catch the thief.
