Tripura Assembly Budget Session from March 13 to 25; Budget to be Presented on March 16: Ratan

Agartala, 6th March 2026:   The budget session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly will be held from March 13 to March 25, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced on Friday.

Speaking after a Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting at the Assembly, Nath said the session has been convened by Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu.

The session will begin on March 13 with the Governor’s address. The day will also include a condolence discussion in memory of former Speaker Biswabandhu Sen, who recently passed away, after which the House will be adjourned for the day.

A BAC meeting, chaired by Speaker-in-Charge Ram Prasad Paul, decided the schedule of the session. Members of the committee include Ministers Sushanta Chowdhury and Ratan Lal Nath, Animesh Debbarma, Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury, Chief Whip Kalyan Saha Roy, along with Rampada Jamatia and Birajit Sinha.

Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy will present the 2026–27 state budget on March 16, along with the revised estimates for the 2025–26 financial year.

Following the budget speech, three important bills are expected to be introduced, including the Tripura University of Health Sciences Bill, a Technical University Bill, and a Women’s University Bill.

Discussion on the Governor’s address will take place over two days. On March 19, the Leader of the Opposition will deliver his speech on the budget. Further discussions on the budget will continue on March 20, 23 and 24, before the Assembly takes up the final discussion and passes the budget on March 25.

Nath said the schedule ensures ample opportunity for members to participate in discussions, and the decisions were taken with the consent of all BAC members.
