Agartala, 6th March 2026:    Ramchandraghat witnessed heightened tension after an alleged attack on the residence of a BJP Yuva Morcha Mandal president.

In protest against the incident, members and supporters of the BJP Mahila Morcha staged a road blockade at Ramchandraghat Bazaar on Friday.

According to allegations, around 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, nearly a hundred supporters and workers of the Tipra Motha reportedly attacked the house of BJP Yuva Morcha Mandal president Rupak Ghosh in the Ramchandraghat area. In the incident, Rupak Ghosh and his elderly mother, Meera Ghosh, were seriously injured. Both were later rescued and admitted to a hospital for treatment.

BJP leaders claimed that the attack was carried out with the intention of disrupting a bike rally scheduled to be organized by the Yuva Morcha in Ramchandraghat on March 8.

The party leadership further alleged that with the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), the growing strength of the BJP has created panic among opposition parties, leading them to resort to such attacks. They also claimed that many workers and supporters have already left Tipra Motha to join the BJP. The party alleged that this was not the first time BJP workers and supporters had been attacked.

The incident has created a tense situation in the Ramchandraghat area. Protesting the alleged attack, BJP Mahila Morcha members and supporters blocked the road at Ramchandraghat Bazaar on Friday.

The protesters demanded immediate action from the police, stating that despite submitting CCTV footage of the incident, the accused have not yet been detained. They had given the police a deadline until 9:00 a.m. on Friday to arrest those involved. However, they claimed no action had been taken so far.
