Agartala, 13th November 2025: Tripura has been recognized as the Best Performing State at the National Level Review organized by the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The honor highlights Tripura’s exceptional performance in HIV/AIDS management and care under the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP).
The state earned a place in the Green Zone of performance indicators prepared by the Union Health Ministry. This recognition comes in view of Tripura’s achievements in providing comprehensive medical services to all HIV-positive patients enrolled in Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) Centers, ensuring their continued health and integration into normal life. The state has also excelled in linking HIV-positive individuals to various social pension schemes and welfare benefits initiated by the government.
The award was presented to two officials from the Tripura State AIDS Control Society (TSACS) during a central function held in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, on November 12, 2025. The honor was conferred by Dr. Chinmayi Das, a senior official of the Union Health Ministry.
Officials noted that the recognition reaffirms the Tripura government’s commitment to providing free and inclusive healthcare to all HIV/AIDS patients in the state.
Under NACO’s evaluation system, states are assessed on 10 key parameters, including the linkage between Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres (ICTCs) and ART centers, initiation of ART for HIV-infected patients, and consistent follow-up care. Tripura’s strong performance across these indicators earned it the top distinction at the national level.
