Tripura Bamboo Mission organized ‘Interactive Meet’ with Bamboo Products Manufacturing Units

Agartala, April 20, 2023: Tripura Bamboo Mission (TBM) organized an “Interactive Meet” with the Bamboo Products Manufacturing Units of Tripura on Thursday at Conference Hall, BCDI, Lichubagan here to review the functioning of the units and their difficulties in running the bamboo based units in the state.

The program were attended by 75 owners of bamboo based enterprises and the said program was inaugurated by Santana Chakma, Minister of Industries and Commerce in presence of Tinku Roy, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Nabadal Banik, Chairman of the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Limited, Vishwasree B., IAS, Director of the Industries and Commerce department cum Mission Director of the Tripura Bamboo Mission.

Experiences of the entrepreneurs and bankers were shared in the house to facilitate others as well as aspiring new entrepreneurs in this sector and in course of discussion the entrepreneurs opined that units are facing difficulties for selling of their Mechanised Agarbatti sticks to the Bangalore based companies.

It has also been opined by them that Chinese enterprises Involved in Agarbatti stick making activities are incentivised once government of India enhance the import duty on Agarbatti stick from 15% to 25%.

Minister Tinku Roy stressed upon formation of a platform and organization to solve the issues jointly as well as bringing issues concerned of their production units to the notice of both union and state government.
