Tripura BJP declares candidate’s names for Panchayat elections

Agartala, 14th July 2024:  The ruling BJP in Tripura has geared up for the upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections by announcing its candidates and preparing for nominations by July 18th. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and BJP State General Secretary Amit Rakshit disclosed that the party, as Tripura’s largest political entity, conducted extensive meetings over the past three days following the election date announcement of August 8 by the Tripura State Election Commission.

“We have meticulously selected candidates after consultations with BJP representatives from across the state,” stated Minister Sushanta Chowdhury. “Criteria such as social acceptance, party tenure, educational qualifications, and other pertinent factors were considered in our selection process,” he added.

Meetings led by BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharya and Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha were pivotal in finalizing the candidate list. “We have nominated candidates for 116 seats in 8 Zila Parishads, 423 seats in 35 Panchayat Samitis across 58 blocks, and 6,370 seats in 605 Gram Panchayats,” Minister Chowdhury highlighted.

He expressed confidence in BJP’s prospects, emphasizing their commitment to village development and strengthening of the Panchayat system.
