Tripura Brick Kiln Union gives deputation to Labour Commissioner on 5 points

Agartala, May 12, 2023: Tripura Brick Kiln Union, affiliated to CITU gave a deputation to the Labour Commissioner on five-point charter of demands including increased wages of brick kiln workers.

The representatives handed over the demand certificate to the Joint Labour Commissioner under the leadership of Tapan Das, general secretary of the organization. Tapan Das, who was present in the delegation, said that the workers working in the brick kilns are not getting a part of their labor wages in many cases this year.

The workers are being deprived of it. In the year 2022, it was decided to increase the wages of the workers by 13.33 percent through discussions in the tripartite meeting in the presence of the Labor Commissioner. In view of that decision, the workers in some brick kilns in the state are not getting fair wages including increased wages for the workers this year.

For this, the Labour department has been demanded to take effective initiatives quickly. Besides, several demands have been highlighted on this day, including bearing the travel expenses of workers from other states when they return home. The delegation also included labour leaders Nirmal Roy, Manoranjan Das, Pradip Dey, Tapan Shil.
