Agartala, 30th June 2024:   Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday highlighted the crucial role engineers play in addressing fundamental public issues, asserting that engineers are the visible representatives of the government.

“Engineers are the face of the government. Our country’s engineers are excelling abroad, constructing impressive buildings and engaging in innovative projects. There’s no reason this shouldn’t happen within our own country or state. We possess abundant talent. Essential needs like roads, drinking water, and electricity are what people desire most, and it is the duty of engineers to ensure these are provided. The government will not withhold funds necessary for developmental work,” stated Dr. Saha.

Dr. Saha delivered these remarks while inaugurating a voluntary blood donation camp and a ceremony honoring outstanding students, organized by the Tripura State Engineers Association at Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala on Sunday.

He praised the Engineers Association for their social contributions, such as blood donation, alongside their professional responsibilities. In his opening address, he called on engineers to proactively address the basic needs of the population.

“Often, we see roads being obstructed due to poor conditions. People want roads, electricity, and clean drinking water—nothing more. Ensuring these services is the engineers’ duty. Why should people have to protest on the streets to obtain these essentials? We have witnessed such protests before. The current government is dedicated to the holistic development of all communities. Whatever is necessary for the state’s development will be done,” he said.

Dr. Saha noted that the state government has launched various innovative programs to provide purified drinking water to residents. “Engineers must work diligently to ensure these initiatives are executed effectively. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also underscored the importance of their efficiency,” he added.

The Chief Minister emphasized the necessity of completing development projects on schedule and mentioned that steps have been taken to facilitate discussions on various issues with DM, SDM, and engineers via video conferencing.

He also underscored the significance of voluntary blood donation, urging citizens from all regions of the state to participate in blood donation drives to save lives.

Additionally, Dr. Saha mentioned the government’s efforts to enhance medical services in the state, including establishing a super specialty hospital and a dental college. “I have also requested the Centre to construct a high-quality hospital akin to AIIMS in the state. Recently, a PHC in the state received an award. Overall, the government is striving to improve the health system,” he concluded.
