Agartala, 12th March 2026: The Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) will organise a District Level “Mahila Jan Sunwai” (Public Hearing) in North Tripura tomorrow to address complaints related to women’s issues and ensure timely redressal of grievances.
According to an official communication, the public hearing will be held at the Circuit House Dharmanagar from 11 AM onwards. The session will be chaired by TCW Chairperson Jharna Debbarma.
During the programme, six pending complaints from North Tripura district will be taken up for hearing. These cases are currently pending with the concerned police authorities. The hearing aims to facilitate direct interaction between complainants, district officials and police authorities to ensure speedy and effective resolution of women-related issues.
Officials informed that the Jan Sunwai will also accept walk-in complaints from women, enabling them to present their grievances directly before the Commission and concerned authorities.
The initiative is being conducted as part of a statewide outreach programme of the Tripura Commission for Women under the guidance of the National Commission for Women, which has scheduled Mahila Jan Sunwai sessions across different districts of Tripura from March 8 to March 13, 2026.
In a letter issued by the Commission to the state administration, necessary logistical support has been sought for the programme. This includes arrangements for the venue, adequate publicity for walk-in complainants, and the presence of district-level officials such as the District Social Welfare Officer, Protection Officers and other concerned authorities. The Commission has also requested the deputation of a case worker and support staff from the One Stop Centre (OSC) and the presence of at least two advocates from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).
District authorities and police officials have been requested to coordinate and ensure that concerned parties related to pending complaints are informed in advance so that the hearing process can be conducted smoothly.
The Tripura Commission for Women has urged women from North Tripura to participate in the Jan Sunwai and take advantage of the platform to seek redressal of their grievances. For further information regarding the hearing, the Commission has designated its Law Officer, Debashmita Chakraborty, as the contact person.
