Agartala, 4th April 2025:    The Tripura Pradesh Congress has issued a stern ultimatum to the state government, demanding a CBI probe into alleged corruption across multiple departments. With a 15-day deadline set, the party has warned of a large-scale protest if their demand goes unmet.

Addressing a press conference, Tripura Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha accused the ruling BJP of deep-rooted corruption, alleging that both Ministers and MLAs are complicit. He stated that despite raising these issues in the Assembly, the opposition was deliberately silenced.

“Our Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman tried to highlight irregularities in the Revenue Department but was not allowed to speak. This government is avoiding accountability while corruption thrives unchecked,” Saha said.

One of the major allegations involves a land allotment scam in Bishalgarh, Sepahijala District. Saha revealed that the then District Magistrate had flagged the issue and initiated action, but the state government allegedly transferred the official instead of addressing the corruption. “Why is the Chief Minister, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, silent on this matter? Why has no action been taken even after a formal complaint?” he questioned.

The Congress leader also accused authorities of failing to curb financial irregularities in institutions like Tripura Central University, Tripura Medical College, and projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Alleging misappropriation of public funds in several Rural Development Blocks, Saha pointed out that while High Courts in other states have taken suo moto cognizance of similar cases, Tripura has seen no such intervention.

“If the government does not order a CBI inquiry within 15 days, we will mobilize a mass protest across the state. The people of Tripura deserve transparency and justice,” Saha declared.
