Agartala, 9th November 2025 : Tripura Congress President Asish Kumar Saha on Sunday accused the BJP of using the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram to divert public attention from growing protests and governance failures.
Speaking at the Pradesh Congress Bhawan, Saha alleged that the BJP and RSS were trying to rewrite history despite having no role in the freedom struggle. “They insult leaders like Nehru and Gandhi, disrespecting the spirit of independence,” he said.
Saha claimed that unemployment and economic distress have increased under BJP rule, and the government is using emotional issues like Vande Mataram to distract people. “The BJP is playing divisive politics and using this celebration as a political weapon,” he added.
He also mentioned that the Congress aims to complete its organizational restructuring, including booth committees, by December 31.
