Agartala, 2nd September 2026 : Tripura Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Pal has been selected to represent the state at the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference, scheduled to be held in Cape Town, South Africa.
An All India Presiding Officers’ CPA Meeting was held at the Community Hall of Parliament House Annexe in New Delhi on Tuesday under the leadership of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Speakers, Deputy Speakers and other presiding officers from various states, along with senior officials, attended the meeting.
The discussions focused on preparations for the international conference, including the composition of the Indian delegation, programme details, study tour and guidelines for participating representatives. Around 125 delegates from Parliament and different state legislatures are expected to participate.
Ram Prasad Pal will attend the conference along with his wife. His participation is being seen as an opportunity for Tripura to showcase its parliamentary traditions, democratic practices and legislative experience on an international platform.
The Indian delegation is scheduled to leave for Cape Town on September 11 and return on October 2 after completing the conference and study tour.
