Tripura emerging as model state under double-engine government: Union Minister Annapurna Devi

Date:

Agartala, 29th June 2026:   Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi Yadav on Monday lauded Tripura’s progress in connectivity, welfare delivery and grassroots implementation of central schemes, stating that the state is emerging as a “model” under the double-engine government.

Addressing a press briefing at the State Guest House here, Annapurna expressed reverence for Tripura, calling it the sacred land of Mata Tripura Sundari, and said she was overwhelmed by the warmth extended by the state government and Minister Tinku Roy during her first visit to the state. She noted that she had visited several institutions over the past two days as part of her official itinerary.

Highlighting the Centre’s development vision since 2014, the Minister said the country has been advancing under the guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,” with targeted focus on youth, women, farmers and the poor. She emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that benefits reach the last mile.

Referring to the Northeast, Annapurna said the region has witnessed unprecedented attention, particularly in connectivity. “Today, highways, railways and air networks have significantly improved, linking the Northeast directly with Delhi,” she said, adding that earlier feelings of isolation have been replaced by integration and growth.

She also highlighted initiatives like “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” which promote cultural exchange and national unity.

Praising the Tripura government, Annapurna said effective implementation of central schemes is visible at the grassroots level. She commended the functioning of Anganwadi centres, Child Care Institutions and One-Stop Centres, noting that women and children are receiving comprehensive support, including counseling and legal aid.

The Minister informed that ten Anganwadi centres and ten working women’s hostels have been sanctioned, with work progressing steadily. These initiatives, she said, will enhance women’s participation in the workforce and strengthen social support systems.

Annapurna assured that the Centre would extend all necessary assistance to further accelerate development in the state.
