Agartala, 4th May 2025:  CPIM Politburo member and Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury on Sunday raised concerns over a significant manpower crisis in Tripura, alleging that more than 51,000 government positions remain unfilled across various departments. Chaudhury, a senior leader of the CPIM, cited official data released during the recent Assembly Session to substantiate his claims.

“In the last assembly session, our MLAs sought details regarding vacancies across departments. Based on the responses provided by Ministers, it was revealed that the number of vacant posts exceeds 51,000. Moreover, data from 18 to 19 departments is yet to be disclosed, indicating a deeper shortfall,” he stated.

Chaudhury criticized the state government’s recent job offer distribution drives, likening them to “a few drops of water in a desert.” He highlighted that the education department alone has more than 20,000 unfilled teaching positions, exacerbating the staffing crisis.

Despite these issues, Chaudhury alleged that the ruling party continues to blame the previous Left Front government for job-related irregularities. He questioned the recruitment process, raising concerns over candidates from West Bengal securing Group D positions despite not being permanent residents of Tripura.

Additionally, the opposition leader pointed to a viral video purportedly showing a BJP Panchayat Samiti member securing employment in jail police under unclear circumstances. “No one knows when she appeared for the interview. These incidents expose the irregularities plaguing government recruitments,” Chaudhury claimed.
