Agartala, 23rd May 2024 : Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu inaugurated the Buddha Purnima celebration at Benuban Buddha Vihara here in Agartala city on Thursday evening. Upon arrival, the Governor paid his respects to the idol of Lord Buddha and joined in the prayers.
He officially opened the festival by lighting a ceremonial lamp and emphasized the enduring relevance of Gautama Buddha’s teachings, urging everyone to follow the path shown by him.
During the event, Governor Nallu awarded prizes to the winners of the drawing competition held in honor of Buddha Purnima.
The celebration began with a welcome speech by Upasak Dibyendu Chakma, Secretary of Benuban Buddha Vihara. Other notable speakers included the founder and Acharya of Dhammadeepa International Buddhist University and Dhammapiya, the general secretary of the Buddhist Thai Bharat Society of Buddhagaya. Distinguished guests present included Ratneshwar Bhante, West Tripura District’s DM Dr Vishal Kumar and Tripura University (Central) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasain.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Khemachara Bhikkhu, principal of Benuban Buddha Vihara Math.
