Agartala, 26th September 2025: The Tripura Government has announced a special festive allocation for Durga Puja 2025, under which ration cardholders across the state will receive free suji (semolina), wheat, and sugar.
In a press statement, the government said the initiative is being carried out under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and the leadership of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury. Similar to last year, the scheme aims to extend festive cheer to nearly 9.90 lakh ration cardholders in the state. Distribution will begin in October 2025 through the Public Distribution System (PDS).
Under the program, the state has allocated 896 metric tonnes (MT) of suji, 1,982 MT of wheat, and 990 MT of sugar. The total subsidy for the scheme is estimated at around ₹7 crore. Each ration cardholder will receive 500 grams of suji, 2 kilograms of wheat, and 1 kilogram of sugar free of cost. The expenditure breakdown includes ₹0.65 crore for suji, ₹2.58 crore for wheat, ₹3.18 crore for sugar, and ₹0.60 crore for transportation and handling.
“The initiative is a people-oriented step and a humble gift from the government to the people of Tripura during the auspicious days of Durga Puja,” the statement read.
The supplies will be made available at all fair-price shops before the festival. Authorities have urged ration cardholders to collect their entitlements on time and cooperate with ration dealers to ensure smooth, timely, and hassle-free distribution so that every family can celebrate Durga Puja with joy.
