Agartala, 26th September 2025: Pradesh BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee today joined a plantation drive at Maharaja Bir Bikram College under the nationwide campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’. On the occasion, he also inaugurated a newly installed Tower Clock on the college campus, sponsored by Tripura Gramin Bank.
Speaking at the event, Bhattacharjee described the initiative as “a wonderful step towards greenery and growth,” applauding MBB College for maintaining its natural beauty and green cover despite infrastructural expansion. “The campus of this college is among the most beautiful in the state. Anyone visiting Tripura should come here to witness it,” he remarked.
Emphasizing the significance of the Prime Minister’s mission, the BJP leader said ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ is not just a slogan but a movement that calls for responsibility and collective action. He acknowledged the role of government institutions, private organizations, and citizens in building a sustainable environment.
Urging students to take responsibility for the saplings planted, Bhattacharjee said, “Planting a tree is just the beginning. Nurturing and protecting it is equally important.” He called upon the youth to inspire others to safeguard green spaces and treat the campus as their own.
Unveiling the Tower Clock, Bhattacharjee added that its installation gave the occasion a symbolic meaning reminding everyone to value both time and nature in the journey toward progress.
