Agartala, 26th August 2025: A daring break-in at Tripura Gramin Bank branch in Ambassa took place at late Monday night and is being investigated as a planned act of robbery.
Sources informed that the bank staff arrived Tuesday morning to find the main gate’s lock and grill forcibly broken. Upon entering, they discovered extensive damage: locks on internal doors and lockers had been smashed, and the office was ransacked. Documents, furniture, computers, CCTV equipment, and other items were found strewn across the premises.
The bank authorities promptly alerted Ambassa police, who rushed to the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest the perpetrators breached the bank’s security system during the night, indicating a coordinated effort.
A bank employee reported that while the intruders failed to steal cash or valuables, they deliberately destroyed the CCTV cameras, making it impossible to retrieve surveillance footage.
This incident follows a string of unresolved petty thefts in Ambassa, fueling growing concern among residents over deteriorating security. Locals have criticized the lack of adequate protection at such a vital institution, pointing to the absence of night guards as a potential factor behind the breach.
In response, officials have assured that stricter security measures will be implemented to prevent further incidents and restore public confidence.
