Agartala, 19th September 2024: In a joint effort, the Border Security Force (BSF) of India and the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) facilitated the rescue of a Tripura man, Challa Fur Mog, who was allegedly abducted in Bangladesh. The incident led to a flag meeting held on Thursday in the Belonia Sub-division of South Tripura District.
Challa Fur Mog, who had visited Bangladesh with proper passport and visa, was reportedly abducted by Bangladeshi miscreants. His wife, Swapna Mog, approached the BSF outpost in Belonia on the morning of September 19, raising concerns about her husband’s whereabouts. She reported that her husband had traveled to Bangladesh on September 13 to visit relatives, but while returning, he was kidnapped by a group of miscreants demanding a ransom of Rs 1 lakh.
In response to her appeal, the BSF promptly contacted their Bangladeshi counterparts. A Company Commander-level flag meeting between BSF and BGB was organized at 11:30 AM between the Belonia and Majumdar outposts. During the meeting, BSF expressed serious concerns over the abduction of the Indian national. The BGB, in turn, informed that Bangladesh Police had already arrested one of the suspects involved in the kidnapping and that a search operation was ongoing to capture the remaining culprits.
The BGB assured that once all necessary formalities were completed, Challa Fur Mog, who is currently in police custody in Chattogram, would be handed over to Indian authorities.
